Day 27: He makes our darkness light.

October 27, 2013 — 4 Comments

darkness is as light

He makes our darkness light.

Dr. Martin Luther King said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.” Mamas, I believe this truth applies to every inch of our everyday.

even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
(Psalm 139:12, ESV)

The dark corners of motherhood where are feel we aren’t seen.
The dark spots of our heart where we feel lost and confused and alone.
Those places are not dark to him.

He is not bound by our confusion; He is not limited by our imperfection. He promises to be strong not just in our weak places but through them. He vows to know us all the way to our core and stay with us still, go with us always.

He is the light that drives out darkness. And this is true even for us.

In our daily joys and triumphs, our daily fear and struggles.
The dark is light to Him.

Thank God and Amen.

  1. I am loving these posts so much, Amanda. And this one just spoke right through to my heart – “he is not bound by our confusion.” Wow, did I need to read that just now – thank you! I’m writing about my journey with my mom again tomorrow at ADF, how her confusion is growing and how painful that is for both of us. But that phrase is so, so helpful. I clicked on the Bible link, but these words appear to be your own. And I am grateful for them! And for you, too.

  2. So inspiring and awesome for both Moms and Dads! Thanks Amanda for these encouraging words!

  3. Knowing that he is not bound by my confusion is utterly comforting. Because I have a LOT of confusion. As in mostly I have confusion. He’s so good.
