Have you noticed there are certain things we just don’t talk about? Tidbits of life and giant soul secrets that stay tucked behind the curtain?
If we keep quiet, they won’t know. If we hide it, they won’t see.
But the hidden isn’t any less real and the unacknowledged gains strength in the dark, strength that should be ours instead.
I’ve only been a mom for six short years, but I’ve carried the title long enough to know we don’t do ourselves any favors by pretending we hold it all together. We don’t gain any brownie points for acting as if. When we keep even the smallest truths in the shadows, we risk forgetting we’re not alone.
This October will be a month for telling secrets. It will be a month for shining light into the quiet corners of motherhood and finding hope and joy there.
Some days will be silly and most days we’ll exhale, and some days will be weighty because some days just are. But all days will be true, at least for this mama. I hope you’ll find some that are true for you, too.
